Position Description:
The Beaverton School District is accepting applications for Program Specialist III - Project Coordinator, Asbestos Management at Maintenance for the 2022-23 school year.
The primary purpose of this Project Coordinator III position is to independently coordinate and provide oversight for facilities repair work, in addition to working with other project coordination staff to ensure successful outcomes for all facility improvement and repair projects. Applicants must be able to function well in a team environment, have strong organizational skills and be proficient at coordinating project schedules with school staff, contractors and other internal stakeholders. The following is a list of essential job functions and knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
1. Work as the AHERA Designated Person and contract administrator for asbestos management services consultant.
a. Maintain asbestos control management database and produce the annual notice document.
b. Coordinate annual asbestos training
2. Perform Project Coordinator functions for the maintenance department contracted services and school funded projects (Facility Improvement Projects - FIP)
3. Coordinate the acquisition and relocation of portable classroom buildings
4. Act as back up for Project Coordinator Supervisor in the event of absence or work overload- including, but not limited to:
a. Work load assignment and distribution for other staff within the department
b. Meeting attendance
c. Investigate problems and complaints; resolves matters within scope and authority
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to function well in a team environment.
Must have strong problem solving skills
Must be able to provide effective advice and training of other employees regarding program area.
Must have strong organizational skills and be proficient at coordinating schedules with school staff, designers, contractors, and other internal staff.
Must be able to work effectively with contractors on projects, including project scope development, obtaining quotes, preparation and implementation of contracts, and change order evaluations and response.
Must be able to participate in permitting processes, and effectively communicate with other public and private agency representatives, community members, parents, staff, supervisors and administrators throughout all project phases.
Must be tolerant of occasional extreme conditions while visiting job sites and/or responding to emergencies (heat, cold, snow/rainy conditions, etc.).
Ability to make presentation before community groups and assigned staff.
Must have strong computer skills and have the ability to perform online research, process contracts, navigate the electronic work order system, and make effective use of Microsoft Office applications.
